DGS Hosting RFI2 Bidders' Conference on Tuesday

RFI2 is Gov. Gavin Newsom’s shorthand for “Request for Innovative Ideas,” a procurement scenario under which the state asks vendors to offer a solution, rather than just a component or a service that fits within a state-devised solution.

The California Department of General Services is holding a conference Tuesday for “all innovators” interested in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed new procurement model, known as RFI2.

RFI2 — a play on the traditional RFI — is Newsom’s shorthand for “Request for Innovative Ideas,” a procurement scenario under which the state asks vendors to offer a solution, rather than just a component or a service that fits within a state-devised solution.

Tuesday’s conference will focus on RFI2 as it relates to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire). There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the new process.

Tuesday’s meeting, which requires advance registration, runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the DGS offices, 707 3rd St., West Sacramento. Registration is available online.
