DHCS Seeks to Fill 3 Roles on CA-MMIS Project

The California Medicaid Management Information System “is a 30-year-old legacy system consisting of over 90 applications, written in seven computer languages, managed through five different software version management tools, five data management systems, and hosted across three major hardware architectures that include mainframe, UNIX and Windows computer servers."

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is recruiting for a few sharp IT professionals who, judging by the job descriptions, aren’t afraid of a challenge.

The California Medicaid Management Information System (CA-MMIS) “is a 30-year-old legacy system consisting of over 90 applications, written in seven computer languages, managed through five different software version management tools, five data management systems, and hosted across three major hardware architectures that include mainframe, UNIX and Windows computer servers,” DHCS says in one posting.

The department is seeking two people for IT specialist 1 (ITS1) positions and one for an IT manager 1 (ITM1) position to work in the Project Management Office (PMO).

Each IT specialist “monitors simultaneous PMO Portfolio Project activities, and develops complex project budget and cost allocation plans to secure federal funding for CA-MMIS projects,” the department says in its announcement.

The person chosen for the ITM1 position will “provide project management leadership and expertise” to the CA-MMIS Division, DHCS says. “The ITMI leads complex PMO projects through the development, management and execution of complex vendor projects. Certified Project Management Professionals and individuals with experience managing project schedules, budgets, and project-related risks in a multi-vendor environment are encouraged to apply.”

More information on the ITS1 positions can be found here, and details about the ITM1 position can be found here.
