Prashant Mittal, a Sacramento-area resident, most recently served as project director for the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), a department where he’s held a series of increasingly responsible positions since joining the system in February 2014.

Before his affiliation with CalSTRS, Mittal was solution architect/technical lead and then enterprise solutions development manager for California Correctional Health Care Services.

Before joining state service in August 2011, Mittal held engineering and management roles with AAA Software Exports and R Systems.

“Prashant will be a great addition to our team,” DMV Director Steve Gordon told Techwire. “He brings the right mix of skill and leadership to help us meet our modernization goals.”

While with CalSTRS, Mittal served as technology renew manager, director of enterprise IT solutions and innovation, and vice-chair of the Pension Solution Steering Committee. In the latter capacity, he directed and led the implementation of a new pension administration system that includes secure online self-service capabilities, and he optimized technology architectures and frameworks, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He cites “more than 24 years of experience delivering business transformations across various industry verticals including healthcare, gaming, finance, retirement, point-of-sale, services and government.”

Mittal has numerous professional credentials, and he won the CalSTRS Virtuoso Award in 2018 for “consistently modeling one or more of CalSTRS core values and for work that significantly impacts the mission and vision of the organization.”

Mittal received his bachelor of science degree with honors in physics, mathematics and statistics, and his master’s degree in computer science and applications.
