EDD Seeks Division Chief for Infrastructure Including IT

The duties of the job entail “developing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing multiple critical and highly complex IT disciplines, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, telecommunications, and enterprise systems (in) both private cloud and public cloud environments.”

The state Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting for a division chief (Career Executive Assignment) to oversee the Infrastructure Services Division.

The chief’s responsibilities include planning, organizing and directing infrastructure-related activities, including “the overall operations of (EDD’s) technology infrastructure.”

The duties of the job entail “developing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing multiple critical and highly complex IT disciplines, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, telecommunications, and enterprise systems (in) both private cloud and public cloud environments,” the job posting notes. “The chief provides strategic and tactical technical direction and cross-domain expertise at deep technical levels, and directs and evaluates the activities of highly technical IT staff to resolve hardware and software problems timely and accurately.”

Applicants should have skills and knowledge including:

  • The ability to plan, organize and direct the work of multidisciplinary professional and administrative staff;
  • The experience to analyze administrative policies, organization, procedures and practices;
  • The ability to integrate the activities of a diverse program to attain common goals and to gain the confidence and support of top-level administrators and advise them on a wide range of administrative matters;
  • The ability to develop cooperative working relationships with representatives of all levels of government, the public and the Legislature and executive branches; to analyze complex problems and recommend effective courses of action; and to prepare and review reports and effectively contribute to the department’s or agency’s Equal Employment Opportunity objectives.

The position has a monthly salary range of $10,360 to $12,341, and the application deadline is May 21.
