EMSA Recruiting for CIO, Network Admin and IT Specialist

Application deadlines for all three positions are within two weeks. The Emergency Medical Services Authority comes under the umbrella of the California Health and Human Services Agency.

The California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) is recruiting for a chief information officer, a network administrator and an IT specialist.

EMSA oversees a host of health- and medicine-related programs and provides leadership in developing and implementing EMS systems throughout the state as well as “promoting disaster medical preparedness throughout the state, and, when required, coordinating and supporting the state’s medical response to major disasters,” according to its website.

EMSA is under the umbrella of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHSA).

The CIO position, which has a job classification of information technology manager I, “is directly responsible for the strategic planning, IT policy development, information security, goal setting, management, ongoing support, operation and enhancement of the information technology system that supports the business operations of the department,” says the job description. 

“As the CIO for the department, the incumbent is responsible for directing, planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the IT unit and ensuring the effective, efficient and secure operation of all IT assets and activities in the EMS Authority.” In addition, the CIO implements departmental, CHHSA and statewide IT and security policies and procedures.

The CIO reports to the chief deputy director, and the position has a monthly salary range of $7,376 to $9,884. The application deadline is June 12, and more information and application information can be found here.

EMSA is also recruiting for a network administrator (information technology specialist I) to work under the CIO and within the System Engineering domain.

The administrator is “responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring and security of the department's physical, virtual, and Cloud server infrastructure in the Windows operating environment,” says the job posting. “During emergency operations, may be required to work in EMSA’s Departmental Operations Center, other governmental Emergency Operations Centers or in EMSA’s field Mission Support Team to provide assistance in emergency response and recovery activities.”

The third EMSA opening is for an IT specialist I, who is “responsible for procuring a wide range of technological solutions to meet end user business needs; performing the full life cycle of end user device solutions management including evaluation, configuration, provisioning, training, tracking, and support; independently reporting Information Security deliverables to the California Department of Technology; and serving as backup to network administrator,” says the job posting.
