ENS-Inc Touts Cloudian in CDT Storage Offering

Cloudian, a Silicon Valley firm that specializes in enterprise object storage systems, has announced that its HyperStore products have been deployed by Enterprise Networking Solutions Inc. of Rancho Cordova as part of ENS’ storage-as-a-service (STaaS) offering for the state of California.

ENS-Inc, which won the state’s designation as a premier provider in November, uses Cloudian products for its STaaS On-Premises, a cloud storage service provided by ENS-Inc on a subscription, pay-per-use basis.

The solution is already in use by more than 10 state and local government agencies through the California Department of Technology (CDT).

Chad Hodges, director of business development for ENS-Inc, told Techwire that this week’s announcement by Cloudian “solidifies what we’ve been working on with them.”

Jon Toor, chief marketing officer of Cloudian, said in a news release: “State, county and municipal agencies today manage huge data sets while grappling with tight budgets and high service level expectations, a combination that is tough to meet. Innovation such as ENS-Inc’s STaaS offering, powered by Cloudian enterprise storage, provides a best-of-breed solution to today’s growing storage challenges by combining limitless scalability and superior S3 API compatibility with unbeatable operating efficiencies.”

When ENS-Inc’s service debuted late last year, CDT noted: “STaaS On-Premises is available to customers with server environments located at our data centers or at a remote location. STaaS provides four tiers of storage to meet the needs of our customers.”

Cloudian’s news release this week explained: “Storage tiers include Tiers I and II, which are high-speed storage collocated with the customer’s servers, and Tiers III and IV, which are high-capacity storage located in ENS-Inc’s data centers. Cloudian HyperStore, deployed as the Tier IV infrastructure, is employed for the most capacity-intensive data and image files.”

Hodges noted that “S3-compatible object storage, a key project element, was a new service offering for us. “Cloudian proved to be an excellent partner, providing the product, support and training we needed to make design and implementation quick and trouble-free.”

Hodges told Techwire he’s already submitted bids for several projects in Texas, including at least one in partnership with Verizon.

“We’re waiting to see if we won it,” he told Techwire.
