Experts in Application Development, Cloud Services Sought by 2 State Agencies

Both roles call for product expertise as well as technical and leadership skills, and the pay range for each tops $100,000 per year.

Two large state agencies that deal with IT are recruiting for experts in cloud services and application development.

The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a Cloud Services Manager (IT Manager I), who would work under the Chief Technology Officer and would be part of the Enterprise Architecture team. The developer “acts as the principal technical lead and supervisor for the private and hybrid cloud services design, development and maintenance activities for DGS,” the job posting says. The responsibilities include:

  • Leads, directs, and oversees a team of technical staff responsible for the multiple cloud services environments.
  • Designs and develops flexible, and reliable cloud services utilizing a VMware vSphere/NSX virtualized platform across multiple sites.
  • Leads and coordinates virtual and cloud infrastructure, backup and storage projects by developing project charters and status reports.
The position has a monthly salary range of $7,634 to $10,230, and the application deadline is Feb. 7.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) is recruiting for a WordPress/Web Application Developer (IT Specialist II) to lead Web application development efforts for the Web Consulting team in CDT’s Office of Enterprise Technology (OET).

Responsibilities include CAWeb Publishing Service WordPress PHP software development efforts, including the state template theme integration, child theme and custom plugin development and related CSS, HTML and JavaScript. According to the job posting, desirable skills and knowledge include:

  • Extensive working experience with WordPress CMS (especially in multisite configuration), relational database management systems, object oriented programming, dynamic website development, Web frameworks, software stacks, usability testing and user-centered design.
  • Knowledge of and proven experience with Software Development Life Cycle, methods of developing, testing and moving solutions to implementation.
  • Primary languages: PHP, HTML, JavaScript.
  • Software Development Methodologies:  Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid.
  • Development Tools/Libraries: HTML, CSS/LESS/SASS, TypeScript/ES6, Ajax, JQuery, Bootstrap, React.
  • Web Services/Web API:  REST.
  • Source Code Control Systems: Git/TFS/VSTS.
  • Application Authentication & Authorization: LDAP/ADFS/Form Based.
  • Experience with Change Management Process.
  • Experience with quality management, business process management and workflow, and defect-tracking tools such as MS Visual Studio Teams Services (VSTS), MS Test Manager, MS Visio, Remedy, etc.
The monthly salary range for this position is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Feb. 3.
