FI$Cal contracts with CherryRoad Technologies, M Corp for $26 million

California’s massive IT overhaul initiative FI$Cal now has a contract with CherryRoad Technologies Inc., subcontracted with M Corp to identify and migrate legacy systems data into a new system.

The contract with CherryRoad and M Corp is worth approximately $26 million and will take several years to complete, according to press release issued on Thursday.

The goal of the FI$Cal (Financial Information System for California) project, a partnership with the Department of Finance, the State Controller’s Office, the State Treasurer’s Office and the Department of General Services, has been to better integrate the data in budgeting, accounting, procurement and cash management from the state’s 2,200 legacy systems in 156 state departments.

Sacramento-based M Corp specializes in legacy modernization and analytics services in the western U.S. and in Australia.

CherryRoad is an Oracle Platinum Partner that provides systems integration and consulting services. The company is headquartered in Morris Plains, N.J. and has offices in Sacramento.

FI$Cal already has several contracts with the private sector; Accenture LLP is the systems integrator and the software is provided by Oracle’s PeopleSoft and Hyperion ERP.

According to the FI$Cal website, the total cost of the project will be about $617 million and will save about $415 million annually once fully implemented.
