Ian Wagemann, a veteran of the U.S. Army and of IT management with the state government, has been named president and chief executive officer of Amerit Consulting, a national staffing and consulting firm.

“My approach to business and the passion to help veterans achieve success has brought me to Amerit Consulting,” Wagemann said.

Wagemenn served in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Airborne infantryman before going to work in the state Department of Health Care Services, where he served as a project manager and business analyst. While earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, he subsequently worked in IT for the state Department of Public Health, the Department of Social Services, the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) and the Department of State Hospitals.

In May 2015, Wagemann founded and became CEO of Elk Grove-based Veteran Enhanced Technology Solutions (VETS), which “focuses on assisting veterans’ transition from the military to the workforce, harnessing the power of IT to create better business and ultimately giving back to the community,” he says in his LinkedIn profile.

Through his association with Gary Herbold, founder and chairman of Amerit Consulting, Wagemann has joined the firm, a national staffing organization based in San Ramon. Herbold is the former president of the California Disabled Veteran Business Alliance (CADVBA) and a two-time Purple Heart-awarded Service-Disabled Veteran.

Due to Wagemann’s military service, Amerit Consulting will maintain its current certifications as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business and Disability Owned Business.

“Ian brings an expertise in managing large scale enterprise IT projects with a focus on business needs and process flow,” says a news release from Amerit. “By utilizing technology, his work contributed to developing partnerships with leading technology providers, offering the best solutions naturally and conveniently.”
