Governor's Office, Other Departments Recruiting for Digital, Tech Expertise

The Governor’s Office is recruiting for an assistant digital director to help the communications team develop and implement the office’s digital strategy. That includes working with the director and deputy director of digital media to manage the governor’s social media channels and helping to elevate and amplify the office’s messaging and build engagement.

The position calls for excellent writing skills, demonstrated experience in digital media and an ability to multi-task. Duties include:

  • Generating, editing, publishing and sharing content, including social media and video
  • Managing the Governor's Office website
  • Posting press releases and media advisories to the website
  • Monitoring and reporting Web analytics and working with designers to update the site as needed

— The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking a software developer (IT Specialist I) to be part of an agile delivery team that's responsible for developing Web-based applications and supporting systems that provide quality services to the department. The developer will be required to analyze data, issues, and situations; provide sound deductive reasoning; identify problems; and develop sound, effective solutions and follow agile/scrum software development methodology. This position requires a high level of technical skill; ability to exercise a high degree of initiative; independence of action and originality; demonstrated tact; and ability to exercise sound judgment that recognizes the best interests of the state and the department. DCSS is also seeking a central response manager (IT Manager I) who will have full supervisory and oversight responsibility for the Central Response Section. The manager supports the software development process that supports several applications for DCSS and Local Child Support Agencies in the Applications Development and Testing Branch within the Technology Services Division. — The Department of Managed Health Care is seeking an applications developer and configuration specialist (IT Specialist I), a new role within the Office of Technology and Innovation. The developer/specialist will serve primarily as the configuration specialist for new cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Application Platform-as-a-Service (APaaS) solutions, and secondarily as a Microsoft .NET software developer working to implement enhancements to the department’s portfolio of Microsoft .NET applications. 

"You will execute business and technical analysis, perform software configuration and development tasks, execute unit testing, participate in peer code review, and serve as an application support resource for complex systems and databases," the job listing says. The position has a monthly salary range of $5,118 to $8,528; the application deadline is July 15. 

— The California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) is seeking an Accessibility Compliance Team supervisor (IT Supervisor II) to serve in the Enterprise Solutions Development Division (ESDD), Analysis, Software Engineering Support Section (SESS). This person will supervise and lead the Accessibility and Compliance Team, which comprises user experience analysts, business analysts and testers. The ACT is a multi-disciplinary team focused on accessibility and ensuring CalPERS compliance with federal and state regulations.
