Graphic: How Much Could CDCR Spend in IT?

Below is an outline of some of the department's financials.

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has a $12 billion budget for 2018-19 budget. In addition, $2.9 billion runs through the department to the state's counties for use in local programs.

Below is an outline of some of the department's financials. Techwire also estimates, based on the Center for Digital Government's* proprietary analysis of multiple state departments, that CDCR's IT spend is around $400 million. That estimate includes salaries, goods and services at the state level.

According to CDCR spokesman Bill Sessa, breaking those numbers down further gets complicated since many service contracts run for multiple years.

Russell Nichols is the director of division enterprise information services; Kristin Montgomery is deputy director of field operations and infrastructure support; and Donald Page is deputy director of enterprise applications and maintenance support.
