Here Are CalOES’ Top Buys of IT Goods in October

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services' top five purchases of IT goods in October reflect its ongoing need for IT assistance, its core work in emergency services and the state’s continuing move to the cloud.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) made 41 purchases of IT goods in October and spent nearly $8 million on just its top five buys.

CalOES spent exactly $7,840,567 on those five expenditures, which included software, licensing and services to accompany its new goods. Here, with rounding, is more information on what it spent:

  • $2.7 million with Allied Network Solutions Inc. of Rocklin for a “CON-CE Engineer,” on a contract that began Oct. 8 and appears to have no end date. That’s likely a reference to a customer engineer who might provide service along with an entity’s purchase of IT goods.
  • $2.5 million, also with Allied, for “Year 1: Salesforce Service Cloud – Unlimited Edition,” with a contract that began Oct. 26 and appears to have no end date. This is probably a reference to the acquisition of storage space in the Salesforce cloud.
  • $2 million with AT&T, for “RPD-A-001 / RapidDeploy Edge – PSAP Analytics Concurrent Per Seat License (QTY: 3000),” with a contract of indeterminate length that began Oct. 13. That’s likely referring to an analytics purchase for 3,000 seats at a public safety answering point – essentially, a call center for emergency calls.
  • $388,000 with PCM Gov Inc. for “269-12442-ESA3 Microsoft Office Professional Plus – Software Assurance – 1 PC – Enterprise – Win – All Languages GOOFES 76983314 Annual Billing 12MO Coverage Dates: 01-NOV-2020 – 31-OCT-2021.” This is on a contract of indeterminate length that began Oct. 22 and which likely covers Nov. 1-Oct. 31, 2021. It’s probably a reference to the purchase of software assurance for Microsoft Office Professional Plus.
  • $348,000 with System Solutions DVBE Inc. of Folsom for “1050111.1803 Server – Core Term License,” on a contract of indeterminate length that began Oct. 20. This is likely a reference to licensing related to a server; System Solutions offers networking services and resources for government IT as well as hardware and software sourcing, per its website.
