Here Are CDT’s Top Purchases of IT Goods in November

The state technology agency made 26 purchases of IT goods in November and spent nearly $2.5 million in just its top five expenditures.

Month-to-month, these figures reflected a slight decline from October, when the California Department of Technology (CDT) made 31 purchases of IT goods and spent more than $7 million on its top five buys. Last month, CDT spent exactly $2,474,784.65 on its five largest purchases. Here, with rounding, is where that money went:

• $1.1 million to Dell Marketing LP for “VMWare Subscription Purchasing Program Credits VMWare Cloud Credits/Points Portal with 1 Year Expiration.” This is a one-year contract that began Nov. 2 and ends Nov. 1, 2021. It likely reflects a purchase or purchases made through VMWare’s Subscription Purchasing Program.
• $662,000 to Crayon Software Experts for “O365GCCE3 ShrdSvr ALNG SubsVL MVL PerUsr Term: 11/01/2020 ? 10/31/2021.” This is a three-year contract that began Nov. 1 and ends Oct. 31, 2023. This probably refers to the purchase via Microsoft Volume Licensing of Microsoft Office 365 government community cloud E3 shared servers for all language. CDT made a similar purchase in June.
• $369,000 to Taborda Solutions Inc. for “Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP(Systems Applications and Products) Applications for Virtual Datacenters with Smart Management + Satellite, Premium Support (24x7 phone and web support).” This is a one-year contract that began Nov. 23 and ends Nov. 22, 2021. It’s probably a reference to applications for Red Hat’s Enterprise Linux for Virtual Datacenters offering.
• $208,000 to Sacramento-based Strato Communications Inc. for “MNF – OpenText Exstream Support Renewal (H-OTCBUSR).” This is a one-year contract that began Nov. 1 and ends Oct. 31, 2021. This may refer to the purchase of a support renewal for OpenText Exstream for multi-network firewall.
• $142,000 to Auburn, Wash.-based Zones LLC for “EntMobandSecE3Full GCC ShrdSvr ALNG SubsVL MVL PerUsr Term: 11/01/2020 ? 10/31/2021.” This is a three-year contract that began Nov. 1 and ends Oct. 31, 2023. It likely refers to the purchase of Microsoft's Enterprise Mobility + Security for government community cloud E3 shared servers. CDT did business with the company earlier this year as well.
