IT Business Analysis Exec Sought for Key Role with Water District

The state’s largest water agency is recruiting for an IT Business Analysis Manager to oversee the tech side of the utility, which serves almost 19 million people in six counties.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) is seeking an executive to manage “the design, development, integration, implementation and administration of the IT business analysis process including business process mapping and process documentation, use case development, functional and technical requirements gathering and documentation, and working closely with business stakeholders to understand their business needs, requirements and priorities for technology solutions.”

MWD encompasses 26 cities and water districts, and its facilities include the 242-mile Colorado River Aqueduct, five water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 2.3 billion gallons per day, nine surface water reservoirs, 800 miles of pipeline, and 16 hydroelectric power plants. It serves residents of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties.

The expectations are high, according to the job posting: “Your ability to manage and produce high-quality work from your staff while at the same time performing the work of a high-level business analyst is crucial. A thorough knowledge, understanding, and experience with Oracle e-Business Suite applications, PeopleSoft, Cognos, Microsoft Stack and software development are desired qualifications.”

The district publishes its enterprise catalog online, and it has a page on its website detailing the district’s procurement methods.   

The position has an annual salary range of $124,197 to $162,240, and the application deadline is Nov. 12. More information and an application link are available online.
