State, Local Agencies Seek Variety of IT Staff

Several state agencies and a Northern California city are recruiting for a variety of noteworthy IT positions, with application deadlines this month.

A spate of noteworthy IT positions are in recruitment by state and local government. Here is an overview, with information about each and links to the job postings.

California Correctional Health Care Services is recruiting for a Deputy Director for IT (Operations), a Career Executive Assignment (CEA) position. The position, which requires some travel, works with the IT director in “establishing policies and procedures to carry out mission-critical goals and objectives and is responsible for IT services, including enterprise electronic communications services, management information systems, technology asset management and its security.” The monthly salary range is $10,871 to $12,341, and the application deadline is Dec. 17. The department is also recruiting for a Senior Enterprise Architecture Specialist (IT Specialist II), who will perform a wide variety of complex tasks to ensure that the program is consistent with department and state business and IT goes, objectives and standards. The salary range is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Dec. 26. 

The state Department of Finance is recruiting for an IT Manager II to serve as the manager for department staff assigned to the Technology Team in the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal). The manager’s responsibilities include serving as the manager for Finance staff assigned to the Technology Team, evaluating work performed on the Hyperion system and associated infrastructure, and identifying and reporting on risks and issues. The manager is the primary technical contact for Hyperion maintenance activities impacting Finance. The monthly salary range for this position is $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is Dec. 20.

The State Water Resources Control Board has extended its recruitment for an Enterprise Architect (IT Specialist III) in the IT Infrastructure Support Branch. The position has a monthly salary range of $7,732 to $10,362, and the application deadline is Dec. 19.  

The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is seeking to fill several positions, including an IT Business Management Chief (IT Manager I) to lead a team that provides business technology management, IT analysis and technology capabilities and solutions in a fast-paced environment. The salary range is $7,634 to $10,230, and the application deadline is Dec. 16. The department is also seeking a Senior System Engineer (IT Specialist II) to work in the areas of networking and compute virtualization. The incumbent provides technical services and support in the areas of both virtual and physical networking, and compute virtualization utilizing VMware. The salary range is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Dec. 16. DWR is also recruiting for a Security Analyst (IT Specialist I) to serve as a member of the Natural Resource Agency (NRA) Information Security Office, providing planning and intelligence support for information security incident handling and/or problem resolution. The position will consult with project teams, operational areas, solution development teams and IT infrastructure groups. The salary range is $5,287 to $8,570, and the application deadline is Dec. 16. The department is also recruiting for an Enterprise Information Security Engineer (IT Specialist II) to serve as a senior member of NRA Security Operations, working as a recognized technical security expert. The position is responsible for performing Information Security activities and tasks as part of security detection, analysis, remediation and security controls operations. The monthly salary range is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Dec. 16. DWR is also recruiting for an Agency Project Management Officer (IT Manager II), who will be a senior member of the NRA Technology Leadership Team and a direct report to the Agency IT Director. This position has direct authority and responsibility for activities related to the management of the agency’s IT project portfolio and assigned project managers. The monthly salary range is $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is Dec. 16.

The State Treasurer’s Office is recruiting for at IT Specialist II for the Debt Management System and Web Deployment Services (DMSWDS) section, providing leadership and expertise in architectural, engineering, operational and project management support for the agency’s Oracle infrastructure. This position has lead responsibility for the entire Oracle 12c Enterprise Database and Fusion Middleware (FMW) environments, running on Windows Servers. The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of databases and specific knowledge and experience with Oracle 12c technologies. The salary range is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Dec. 15.   

The Department of Developmental Services is recruiting for a Data Analytics Developer (IT Specialist I) to work independently and with a team to design, develop, maintain and implement complex data models, reports and analytics to both internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent must have a comprehensive understanding of the modern data analytics tools and techniques involved in data reporting and analysis. The salary range is $5,297 to $8,826, and the recruitment will remain active until the position is filled. 

The Employment Development Department is recruiting for an Access and Identity Management Specialist (IT Specialist II) to work directly with management, other technical Architects, Engineers and Associate service roles in the Enterprise Security Operations Section, other Division Sections, Information Security Office, Enterprise IT and customers in support of the organization’s client/server, multi-tier infrastructure. The salary range is $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is Dec. 25.   

And the city of Stockton is recruiting for an Information Technology Officer to help the IT Director lead the department in solutions and technical innovations in core capabilities, customer mission support and competitive organic growth. This position will be “responsible for growing and nurturing the city’s Information Technology infrastructure, operation, and staff,” according to the job listing. The position has an annual salary range of $117,618 to $150,099, and the application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
