IT sales veteran Carl Pirie has joined Effectual as public sector sales manager, based in Sacramento.

Pirie says in his LinkedIn profile that his areas of expertise include cloud technology, state and local government sales, IT strategy, professional services and data center.

“I’m really excited to be part of the Effectual team, really supporting the CDT [California Department of Technology] infrastructure,” Pirie told Techwire. “I was easily recruited by Effectual because I was really impressed with the depth of their capability in cloud services and modernization.”

Effectual describes itself as a modernization service provider that takes a “security-first approach toward compliant managed and professional services.” The company works with Amazon Web Services, among other partners, and is “the only AWS Premier Consulting Partner with the AWS Government Competency and the VMware Master Services Competency in VMware Cloud on AWS,” according to Effectual's website.

Pirie had been affiliated with JHC Technology until it was acquired last year by Effectual, whose Sacramento location is one of six in the U.S.

Before his association with JHC and now Effectual, Pirie worked in sales and management with Northrop Grumman, Dimension Data, EMC (now Dell EMC), Isilon Systems (since acquired by Dell Technologies), and NetApp.

Pirie is a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a bachelor’s degree in economics/agricultural and resource economics, a Master of Science degree in computer systems management, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance.
