The Office of the Governor is recruiting for a Senior Software Developer, and the state Department of Public Health (DPH) is looking for a Principle Enterprise Architect.  

The opening in the Office of the Governor “contributes toward the growth of the Governor’s Office’s Information Technology Unit into a customer-focused service organization by following the unit’s established cultural principles,” the job listing says. “They will also continuously improve communications and relationships with peers, management, customers and vendors. The incumbent acts as a technical expert on systems software/hardware projects and/or works independently on information systems.” The position reports to the chief information officer for the Office of the Governor.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Serve as IT application lead programmer on new and maintenance development projects.
  • Demonstrate high-level expertise to design and code complex software solutions, such as enterprise-level Web-based software applications and relational databases running on various operating systems and hardware.
  • Perform software product implementation and release management activities and resolve application issues.
  • Work independently and in teams as an intermediate-level technical specialist on complex new and legacy FreeBSD systems development and enhancement projects.
  • Code in a variety of software languages and use a variety of software tools.
  • Apply design framework to code and software development best practices throughout the software development life cycle.  
  • Conduct system and integration test of application and database code.
  • Construct the development and test environment and bring the software solution into production.
  • Provide review, code enhancements, and bug fixes.
The position has a monthly salary range of $7,384 to $9,584, and the recruitment will remain open until the position is filled.

The DPH’s Principle Enterprise Architect position (IT Specialist III) “is responsible for providing the mastery level of leadership, designing standards, roadmaps and providing guidance on these work activities and resources” for DPH’s Enterprise Architecture team, according to the job posting. The ITS III monitors an enterprise-wide shared-services environment and ensures that “the most complex/critical information interoperability” is established among other DPH programs, state departments and federal programs. The ITS III also leads the Enterprise Architecture Review Board and works with the Executive Steering Committee. The ITS III will perform duties in the System Engineering domain.

Desirable qualifications for the position include:

  • Minimum three years of experience as an Enterprise and Solution Architect
  • Extensive professional experience in business requirements engineering, solution architecture, design, development and deployment of large-scale business solutions
  • Proven success and ability to effectively communicate with and influence decision-makers of all levels, including technology and business leaders
  • Experience leading the development of enterprise architectural strategies and road maps for solutions that solve business problems, are scalable and sustainable, are secure, and meet internal long-term goals of IT and the business
The position has a monthly salary range of $7,732 to $10,362, and the application deadline is Jan. 29.
