Some high-profile public-sector IT leaders are among the scheduled speakers at next month’s Data Con LA, which bills itself as “the largest of its kind” data conference in Southern California.

The three-day virtual conference, Oct. 23-25, features a variety of topics related to data and technology, including data engineering; AI/machine learning and data science; emerging technologies; business intelligence and reporting; and data infrastructure and security.

Among the notable speakers and presenters will be Los Angeles County’s chief information officer (CIO), Bill Kehoe; and CIO Michael Berman of California State University Chancellor’s Office. A panel discussion about data and government will also feature some influential IT government leaders: L.A. County Deputy CIO Jagjit Dhaliwal; Burbank CIO Kevin Gray; Los Angeles Controller Ron Galperin; Los Angeles Chief Data Officer Jeanne Holm; Long Beach CIO Lea Eriksen, who’s also the city’s director of technology and innovation; and Pasadena CIO Phillip LeClair.

Data Con LA was started in 2013 under the name Big Data Day, which drew about 250 attendees, according to organizers.

“In 2018,” according to the conference website, “we re-branded ourselves from Big Data Day LA to Data Con LA with over 1,800 attendees and over 2,000 in 2019.” Organizers say they expect more than 2,000 attendees this year.

Tickets to the event cost $20. More information and registration information is available online.
