Gretchen Williams, deputy director of the California Department of Technology's Office of Professional Development, is departing CDT for a position in the private sector.

Williams has served the state of California for 18 years, according to CDT spokesman Bryce Brown.

"Her first position was with the Health and Welfare Data Center (HWDC) in 2000, in the Customer Relations Division. She later joined the Office of Systems Integration (OSI) in the strategic planning office. Gretchen then began to support the development of the California Health and Human Services (CHHS) Office of the Agency Information Officer (AIO). She spent nearly a decade at CHHS as the deputy AIO overseeing a multimillion-dollar project portfolio."

Williams returned to CDT in 2017 as deputy director of the Office of Professional Development, where she led the launch of the Project Management Leadership Academy, the Digital Services Innovation Academy, the Information Security Leadership Academy and the AIO/CIO Orientation framework.

The department issued this statement today through Brown: "CDT is fortunate to have had Gretchen's leadership in the critical area of workforce development, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors."
