Modesto CIO Bryan Sastokas moving to Oakland

In January, city of Modesto CIO Bryan M. Sastokas will be moving to Oakland serve as CIO over the bay area city’s IT program, according to an announcement.

Sastokas led Modesto’s technology initiatives and helped the region adopt new technology from multiple public and private agencies.

"While Bryan’s technical vision and leadership has moved the City forward, it is his honesty, determination and drive that will be missed," said Greg Nyhoff, Modesto’s city manager, in a press release. "There is no doubt that Bryan has kept our City in a constant pursuit of excellence."

Sastokas helped to implement the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) initiative and was a member of the executive team that modernized the Stanislaus Regional 911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system under the Stanislaus Regional 911 Joint Powers Agreement between Stanislaus County and the City of Modesto.

The Center for Digital Government recognized the City of Modesto as a top-10 ranked Digital City in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Municipal Information Systems Association of California awarded Modesto the 2012 Quality in IT Practices Award and 2013 Excellence in IT Practices Award.

Sastokas’ last day with the city of Modesto is on Jan. 17.
