The California Health and Human Services Agency’s Office of Systems Integration (OSI) has a new director — Dan Kalamaras, 51, a veteran IT executive from Northern California.
Kalamaras has most recently been interim executive director of Welfare Client Data Systems at the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids Information Network Consortium (CalWIN). He has been chief information officer and director of information technology at the San Francisco Human Services Agency since 2015.
Kalamaras succeeds John Boule, who had been OSI director for more than three years before leaving the office in December to become executive director of the California Automated Consortium Eligibility System (CalACES) Project. OSI’s chief deputy director, Peter Kelly, left the agency last month.
Kalamaras was an eligibility information technology manager at the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance from 2005 to 2014; before that, he held other positions with the organization including eligibility worker from 1990 to 1995; eligibility supervisor from 1995 to 1996; and senior information technology analyst from 1998 to 2001.
OSI’s website says the office “manages the procurement, contract negotiations and contract management aspects of the acquisition of technology systems and services. After the procurement phase, OSI oversees the design, development, governance and implementation of IT systems which serve health and human services programs.”
Kalamaras’ appointment by the governor doesn’t require Senate confirmation for the position, which pays $185,000 a year.
