New Vice Chancellor of IT Named by UC Santa Cruz

Van Williams is the new vice chancellor of information technology at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He began his position on July 2, replacing retiring VC Mary Doyle.

Van Williams is the new vice chancellor of information technology at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He began his position on July 2, replacing retiring VC Mary Doyle.

Williams joined UC Santa Cruz from New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he had been CIO, chief technology officer and senior director of enterprise operations and solutions.

At the UC campus, Williams will oversee a team of 240 staff members, all of whom handle IT services and support to the campus. He will lead the university in adopting Amazon Web Services for enterprise applications. He will also be reworking the IT strategic vision over the next few months and working to foster relationships between the university and Silicon Valley businesses.
