The deputy agency information officer (AIO) for the California Health and Human Services Agency has been reappointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Deanne M. Wertin, who’s served as deputy AIO since 2018 for Health and Human Services (CHHS), joined the state after working in the private sector. Before coming to CHHS, she had been chief operating officer for Social Interest Solutions from 2015 to 2017. According to the announcement last week from the Office of the Governor, Wertin’s previous roles included chief operations officer for M Corp, senior vice president of operations for the Walz Group, chief executive officer with Maximus Consulting Services and managing director for KPMG Consulting.

Wertin works with the agency’s AIO, Adam Dondro, who’s been in that role since July 2017.

Wertin, 55, is a Sacramento-area resident who received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia and her master’s in business administration from UC Davis. She is a U.S. Air Force veteran and volunteers with Child Advocates of Placer County, working with foster teens.

The position does not require confirmation by the state Senate.
