Nomination Deadline is Friday for Public Sector CIO Academy Awards

The CIO Academy Awards Program recognizes individuals in California government organizations for their outstanding contributions, best practices and works of distinction.

Friday night is the deadline to submit nominations for the California Public Sector CIO Academy Awards Program, a keynote industry event sponsored by Techwire’s sister publication, Government Technology magazine.

The annual event will be Feb. 6 at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento.

The CIO Academy Awards Program recognizes individuals in California government organizations for their outstanding contributions, best practices and works of distinction.

The California CIO Academy IT Leadership Award honors an IT manager or supervisor in a public-sector organization who, over the last year, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, customer service and public stewardship through leading a team, serving the organization, implementing innovative solutions or serving constituents. Agencies or departments may nominate up to two people.

The California Public CIO of the Year and the California Public CTO of the Year are given to a chief information officer and a chief technology officer, respectively, who demonstrate vision and leadership, develop future IT leaders, create an outstanding technology organization, and create strategies to promote information sharing and collaboration among government organizations.

All nominations must come from the public sector. More information about the awards, and a link to submit a nomination, are available on the event website. For any additional information about the event, the awards themselves, or the number of nominations a department or agency may make, contact Hansa Bernal, national conference director for Government Technology.
