Opportunity Alert: RFI on the Way, Big Projects on the Horizon

A California county has several large projects in the works. Keep an eye out for an RFI on a case management system, a need for cybersecurity tools, and plans for a 5G system for the region.

San Joaquin County’s Digital Innovation and Transformation Strategy contains some opportunities for those selling tech goods and services to the public sector.

Chief Information Officer Chris Cruz told Techwire on Friday that the county will soon be issuing a Request for Information for a new case management system for the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.

“We also have more opportunities around our cybersecurity tools, homeless initiatives and looking at systems that align with our Reallocation Systems and leading a grassroots 5G system across San Joaquin County,” said Cruz, who may be reached via email. “These will all be priorities identified in our Strategy that lead to regional solutions.”

In addition to the new technology, the county is also poised to welcome a new, state-of-the-art floating Tier 3 data center, which will be housed in a barge docked in the Port of Stockton. The data center had originally penciled in for a March arrival, but that was forestalled by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and other circumstances. Techwire is tracking the progress of that project and will have further reporting in coming weeks.
