Closer Look: OSI's Acquisitions for 2016-18

California's Office of Systems Integration spent about $1.38 billion in IT goods and services during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years.

California's Office of Systems Integration spent about $1.38 billion in IT goods and services during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years. There was no recorded spending for telecoms.

That included 387 purchase orders, spread over 24 months, with the most orders in January 2018. That month included 31 orders, while July 2017 had seven purchases.

The largest monetary portion of those orders came under non-competitively bid contracts at $1.2 billion, most of which was spent in 2016-17. $25 million was spent on competitive contracts in 2016-17. Almost half the 2017-18 contracts were competitive bids at $79 million.

About $9.2 million was spent on IT goods and $1.4 billion was spent on IT services over the two years.

FY 2016-17 had a $1.3 billion spend toward IT services and $4.8 million on IT goods. The department spent $83.8 million in FY 2017-18, $79.5 million on IT services and $4.4 million on IT goods.

As a supplier and integrator to other departments, some of OSI's spending may be on their behalf and other departments may spend through OSI.
