People on the Move: GO-Biz Gets New Policy Deputy

Gov. Jerry Brown has named a new deputy director of legislative and intergovernmental affairs for GO-Biz, the state's business and economic development office.

Gov. Jerry Brown has named Maral Farsi, 37, of Sacramento, deputy director of legislative and intergovernmental affairs at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). Farsi has been regional director of government affairs for CVS Health since 2014. She was a health policy manager with Optum from 2011 to 2014 and senior policy analyst for the California Association of Health Plans from 2008 to 2011. This position does not require Senate confirmation, and the compensation is $115,008. Farsi is a Democrat.

Also of interest to those in the California tech industry, GO-Biz is conducting an online survey of employers, seeking to determine which cybersecurity skills and work roles the state's tech companies need. "California has a cybersecurity workforce challenge," the survey introduction says. "There is a lack of overall empirical research and evidence specifying what cybersecurity skills and work roles California's employers need and what education and workforce training exists."
