Mike Hawkins, a 13-year veteran of tech sales, starts in a new role today as State, Local and Education (SLED) account manager for Forescout Technologies, which offers a unified security platform for enterprises and government agencies.

Hawkins, a longtime California resident, has been with Check Point Software Technologies, SoftwareONE, CompuCom and Dell. Previously, he worked in pharmaceutical sales.

“One of the biggest things that attracted me to Forescout is working with SLED customers on things that they do manually," Hawkins told Techwire. "There are a lot of efficiencies that Forescout can provide, and I'm looking forward to that." He noted that at trade shows and other industry events, "There's been a lot of buzz about Forescout," and that's what prompted him to make the  move when the opportunity opened.

Hawkins has served as vice president of the San Diego Chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners. He's also been active in the Information Systems Security Association as well as the California Educational Technology Professionals Association, and he's been active in California's state, local and education (SLED) sector for years.

Hawkins is a native New Yorker and a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. He's an avid homebrew hobbyist with a specialty in making cider and mead.
