Project Manager, Specialists Among State Roles in Recruitment

Four agencies are seeking IT professionals for several key roles. Application deadlines for the positions are within two weeks.

Departments in state government are recruiting for a number of IT leadership and specialty roles.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) is seeking a Salesforce Project Manager (IT Specialist III) to oversee creation and deployment of complex Cal OES cloud technology projects. “The incumbent plans and directs current and future development and provides project leadership for the identification, development and implementation of information technology systems solutions,” the job posting says. “The incumbent incorporates digital communication objectives and contributes to the advancement of technology, ensuring all digital products meet CalOES security standards and accessibility guidelines.” The role is suited for an experienced IT professional with experience in enterprise systems and applications. “The incumbent must have the ability to facilitate large meetings and discussions with management as well as executive leadership,” the job posting notes. The monthly salary range is $8,119 to $10,880, and the application deadline is Nov. 20. The California Department of Technology (CDT) is recruiting for a Command Center Specialist (IT Specialist I) to provide operational support to internal and external customers. “Duties include performing advanced system troubleshooting and network analysis, coordinating incident resolution efforts with internal service teams and external vendor staff, and using multiple system utilities to obtain and analyze environment data. The IT Spec I requires extensive experience with mainframe systems and/or servers, networks and associated system applications, utilities and monitoring software,” the job posting says. The specialist “performs high-level activities related to the Command Center and/or Service Desk Incident, Change Request, and Request and monitoring; design and implement protocols and processes for Service Desk support.” More details about the role are available in the duty statement. The position has a monthly salary range of $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Nov. 20.

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking a Network Engineer Specialist (IT Specialist I) to “act as the technical team member of the Enterprise Network Team and (be) responsible for complex project, network and infrastructure initiatives for CCHCS,” according to the job posting. The network engineer “participates in Post Implementation Evaluations and reviews processes through lessons learned, systems evaluations, and customer experience feedback,” the duty statement says. The engineer also “determines the impact of data communication upgrades and coordinates data communication services implementation in CCHCS Enterprise Network Infrastructure environment” and “acts as a technical adviser and consultant to customers, IT staff, management, vendors and contractors, and provides expert guidance on information systems planning, and provides technical guidance and direction.” The position has a monthly salary range of $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Nov. 25.  

The California State Lottery is recruiting for a Systems Administrator (IT Specialist I) to provide technical support in the areas of servers, storage, backup/data protection, cloud and virtualization within the Lottery’s infrastructure. Responsibilities of the position, according to the job posting and duty statement, include:

  • Provides support for Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, NTFS permissions, IIS Webservers, File\Print Servers, infrastructure services, virtualization systems, cloud services (Azure, Office 365, etc.) and email system (Exchange Online).
  • Provides subject matter expertise on the configuration and management of servers, data storage, backup systems and data protection, including management of new VMware instances, and/or data center hardware upgrades.
  • Performs complex problem resolution and root cause analysis until resolved or escalated.
  • Prepares technical documentation, status reports and briefing documents for Lottery management and staff.
This position has a monthly salary range of $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Nov. 24.
