Questions for DMV About Real ID? Tune in Tonight

The Department of Motor Vehicles will be answering viewers' phoned-in questions today between 4 and 7 p.m., during the news broadcasts on Sacramento's KCRA (Channel 3).

The California Department of Motor Vehicles will have spokespeople live on TV this afternoon and evening to answer questions about Real ID, the federally mandated identification program that's being administered in the state by the DMV.

DMV spokesman Jaime Garza told Techwire in an email Wednesday that agency representatives will be fielding viewers' phoned-in questions during the news broadcasts on Sacramento's KCRA-TV (Channel 3), which run from 4 to 7 p.m.

"DMV spokespersons will be speaking with KCRA anchors/reporters during the various evening broadcasts," Garza said. "DMV experts will be staffing phones to answer viewer questions about REAL ID only, from 4 to 7 p.m." The presentation will be done live during the news broadcasts; questions are not being accepted in advance.

Techwire has had regular coverage of the issues surrounding Real ID, and KCRA has posted some information on its website, as well.

The number for those wishing to call the TV station with questions about Real ID is (916) 446-3333.
