Rubrik, a Palo Alto-based cloud data management company that does significant business with state government, has named Rinki Sethi to the dual position of vice president and chief information security officer.

Sethi joins Rubrik from IBM, where she served as vice president of information security. Before her time with IBM, she built and developed technical security teams at Fortune 500 companies including Palo Alto Networks, Intuit, eBay, Walmart.com, and Pacific Gas & Electric.

“Rubrik is breaking ground in a product space that touches every industry,” Sethi said in a company news release. “We are broadly solving the challenges related to data control and management, which demands strong security. Data is the key to our future, so its protection is crucial. For others like me that are passionate about security, Rubrik is the company to work for or partner with today. I’m thrilled to be on board.”

Sethi's background, according to her LinkedIn profile, is as a developer and as a "key player" in mergers and acquisitions, along with her management of security strategies and teams.

Sethi will be responsible for leading efforts to protect Rubrik’s information and technology assets and will advise on the company’s continued product innovations in the security space. Sethi will report directly to Rubrik Chief Information Officer Avon Puri.

“Rinki has been at the forefront of developing cutting-edge online security infrastructure at several Fortune 500 companies and brings a wealth of valuable industry expertise to the Rubrik team,” Puri said in the news release. “Her ability to build industry-leading security teams will drive even greater innovation here at Rubrik as we continue to help clients protect their data globally.”

Rubrik offers a single software platform to manage and protect data in the cloud, at the edge, and on-prem.
