Cybersecurity is the theme for an October event being hosted by California State University at Sacramento in conjunction with the California Department of Technology, the California Office of Emergency Services, the California Military Department and the California Highway Patrol.

The State of California Cybersecurity Education Summit "is designed to engage the entire spectrum of California's cybersecurity professionals, whose job functions and expertise range from highly technical to executive," says the Sac State announcement. "Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the nation's leading solution providers and discover the latest products and services for enterprise cyber defense. Our Summit will be content-rich with proven strategies and practical tools and templates for transforming your Information Technology and Information Security operations."

Organizers are also seeking sponsors for the Oct. 9 event, to be held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. In addition, those companies that committed to sponsorship by July 2 will have a chance to participate in an advisory board that's shaping the agenda and the content of the event.

"The 2018 Summit gathers thought leaders from industry, government and academia to engage, inform, train and empower California to stay ahead of cyber threats," the event site says. "This educational and information-packed forum offers continuing education units and features content tied to the five pillars of cybersecurity: Identify, Detect, Protect, Respond and Recover.
