The city announced the update Thursday in a news release detailing the new features, which include the ability to make reports, as well as track and view nearby requests through a corresponding number, all of which officials say will increase transparency and improve user experience. The service can be used by visitors, businesses and residents for inquiries regarding business permits, drinking water or stray animals, as well as a number of other city amenities.
The latest features for the app are available through the Google Play and Apple app stores. 311 also includes 24-hour support through its call center’s live representatives, who are also available on weekends and holidays.
Sacramento’s 311 service utilizes a third-party translation service, which offers responses for more than 150 languages.
The call service can be accessed by dialing 311 or (916) 808-5011, or (916) 264-5011 for those calling outside of city limits.
