New Year, New Systems for Sacramento County

Sacramento County is refreshing several of its systems for the new year.

Sacramento County is refreshing several of its systems for the new year, including budgeting and voting.

The county plans to use a new voting system beginning with the 2018 Primary in June.

The cost estimate is $3.8 million over eight years.

The county is also “still in the RFP stage” for a budget system, according to CIO Rami Zakaria. The system has an estimated budget of up to $5 million.

An RFP that closed in September was for an off-the-shelf system.

To support these changes, and the tax system the county hopes to replace in the next few years, Sacramento replaced its mainframe and upgraded its operating system last year. These two systems support the current property tax and criminal justice information system.

The county is also looking at an electronic signature system to enable faster business processes. That RFP closes on Jan. 17.
