Sacramento County to install paperless personnel system

The Sacramento County Department of Technology will upgrade the county’s SAP software in order to implement a new paperless personnel system for more than 10,000 employees, according to a June 14 release. The improvements are expected to be online within months.

The Department of Personnel Services will spend $224,770 on a software package extension to COMPASS—the county’s current Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP), installed in 1999.

The upgrade is expected to save the county more than $500,000 over the next five years by allowing employees to access, update and print their personnel forms rather than contacting someone in Personnel Services to input information, email confirmations, or print and interoffice forms to employees.

"With continued downward pressure on local budgets, it’s imperative that we use technology to streamline and improve operations wherever possible," County Executive Brad Hudson said in a release. The decision to purchase the software updates was approved by the county board of supervisors on June 12.
