The program is funded by the city of San Jose’s Digital Inclusion Fund, which is capitalized by fees paid by Internet service providers. The city engaged CETF to help manage grant-making under the Partnership. The position, which has an annual base salary of $120,000 plus an opportunity for incentives, is based in San Jose and is considered part of the CETF team. The application deadline is 5 p.m. June 7.
“The ideal candidate will be able to align stakeholders and garner additional resources behind a bold vision and interact with leaders in the community, government and corporate worlds,” says the job announcement.
The Digital Inclusion Partnership’s goals and outcomes include:
- Connect at least 50,000 San Jose households with universal device access and universal connectivity over the next 10 years.
- Ensure at least 50,000 San José households achieve and sustain the appropriate digital skills proficiency level (basic, intermediate, or advanced) to stay ahead of technology and increase quality of life outcomes (education, workforce, health care and more).
The San Jose City Manager's Office will monitor the manager's performance "to ensure data-driven reports are provided to the City Council semi-annually."
