The California Department of Technology is accepting reservations for its spring CDT Vendor/Partner Forum, where companies and consultants can find out the best ways to do business with the state.

The event is scheduled from 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 9 at the CA Lottery Building, 700 N. 10th St., Sacramento. Because space is limited, companies are asked to bring no more than two representatives. The forum will be recorded and made available afterward for those unable to attend. The CDT website has a link for registration.

Techwire will attend and provide coverage, as well.

Scheduled speakers this year are Chris Cruz, California's deputy chief information officer and chief deputy director of CDT; and Angela Shell, deputy director of the Procurement Division for the state Department of General Services. Their topics have not yet been announced.

CDT "will provide the vendor/partner community with valuable information on how their companies can partner with the State of California," says a news release from CDT. "Vendors will also be given an opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions and provide feedback on the information provided."

At last fall's CDT vendor forum, more than 100 vendors listened to briefings by, among others, state CIO Amy Tong; her deputy, Cruz; and the state’s chief information security officer, Peter Liebert. Vendors and state IT leaders alike had positive reactions to last year's event and Tong's message.
