Cruz Nieto was named the new chief technology officer for the Secretary of State's Office in October, Techwire confirmed on Nov. 19. She will work under Chief Information Officer Rita Gass.

Nieto joined CDT in June 2017 as a portfolio manager at the Office of Digital Innovation, according to LinkedIn. The Sacramento native is also the board chair for Sacramento’s Latinas in Tech chapter, and has a bachelor's in business administration.

Techwire will have continued coverage on Nieto's transition.
