State Agencies Recruiting for Chief of Portfolio Services, Lead Architect

Both jobs require a high degree of technical expertise, and both have management responsibilities, as well.

Two state agencies are recruiting for lead positions in IT. 

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking candidates for Chief of IT Portfolio Services (IT Manager II), a senior management role influencing IT policy and formulating long-range IT programs/objectives and overseeing Enterprise Portfolio Services (EPS), which comprises Project Management, Information Systems Architecture, and Enterprise Portfolio Management.

“The incumbent oversees … the most complex IT Portfolio and Information Architecture for Caltrans and has full management responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with the day-to-day operations of EPS,” the job posting says. “The incumbent works effectively with internal department customers, technical personnel and management in providing expertise to successfully plan, execute, report, monitor, and close projects and contracts critical to Caltrans goals.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is March 16.  

The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) is recruiting for a Lead Network Enterprise Architect and Administrator (IT Specialist III), who will be considered the CalRecycle expert for Enterprise services integration, adaptation, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.

“Incumbent will act as the lead for the most complex components of the environment (e.g., Core network switch/routers, Distribution layer switch/routers, Access layer switches, wireless access points, Power-over-Ethernet injectors, firewalls, Wireless LAN Setup on Monitoring equipment, fiber transceivers, fiber switches, etc.) and serve as an expert technical specialist performing the most complex enterprise IT infrastructure projects,” the job posting says. “Will have a broad and deep knowledge or existing and emerging enterprise architecture and technologies and the ability to architect and lead complex enterprise infrastructure solutions implementations and projects.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,732 to $10,362, and the application deadline is March 6.
