State Agencies Seek Branch Chief, Senior Architect

The positions are in recruitment by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the California Department of Social Services.

The state is recruiting for two key positions in IT leadership.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) is seeking a Branch Chief (IT Manager II) to lead the Cyber Threat Intelligence Branch of the California Cyber Security Integration Center (Cal-CSIC). The Branch Chief “leads, manages, coordinates, communicates, integrates and is accountable for the overall success of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Branch, ensuring alignment with critical Cal-CSIC priorities,” the job posting says. The Branch Chief “functionally supervises a multi-agency team of staff including Information Technology Specialists III, Information Technology Specialists II, Research Data Analysts, Military Officers, Military Warrant Officers, Military Enlisted E6, and private sector consultants.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $9,725 to $11,821, and the application deadline is Sept. 24.

The California Department of Social Services is recruiting for a senior software architect (IT Specialist II) whose primary duties include “the architecture, development, operations and maintenance of software systems with security features, security guidelines and security compliance,” according to the job description. “This position is responsible for defining and maintaining application security configurations standards to measure against risk mitigation targets. The ITS II develops and maintains detailed standard operating procedures for in-house technologies, third-party specific applications, and database security technologies. The position develops and maintains detailed application security design requirements and implements security designs for new or existing systems. The ITS II performs security reviews and code reviews to identify security gaps in software architecture.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,365 to $10,165, and the application deadline is Sept. 21.
