State Agencies Seeking Expertise in Cloud, Database, Networks

The departments seeking applicants include the California State Teachers Retirement System, the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Several state agencies are recruiting for IT professionals in a number of specific areas.

The California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) is recruiting for a cloud developer (IT Specialist II) to perform “senior level cloud-native applications analysis, design, development, innovative problem-solving, and integration with custom applications and packaged software for the benefit of CalSTRS Technology Services ecosystem,” the job posting says. “The IT Specialist II will work closely with enterprise level architects, business analysts, application developers, testers, infrastructure teams, and staff from various other IT disciplines. The IT Specialist II plays an important role contributing to the success of CalSTRS strategic goal, Digital Transformation.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,014 to $9,399, and the application deadline is June 3.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking an IT Specialist I who is adept with data analysis and database development to “assist with streamlining various data collections into one consolidated data point,” according to the job posting. The incumbent “develops, tests, implements and maintains databases; creates management methods and systems to access information stored in databases; consults with internal and external stakeholders in an effort to streamline data gathering and improve processes; modifies databases and products according to Field Operations Division and departmental needs; develops and writes scripts for easy to read layouts and reports,” among other duties.

The position has a monthly salary range of $5,297 to $8,826, and the application deadline is June 10.

The state Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) Office of Information Services (OIS) is recruiting for a network technical specialist (IT Specialist II) to “support 39 clients who license and regulate various industries within the state of California,” according to the job posting. The network specialist “independently plans, organizes, and directs all activities associated with the research, development, implementation, and support of the DCA network environments utilizing multiple vendors’ software and equipment. The incumbent has responsibility for support and oversight of the DCA’s entire network including headquarters, the Federated Data Center and offices supporting the DCA clients statewide and online. This position is in the System Engineering domain.”
