The California Department of Aging is recruiting for a chief technology officer (IT Manager I) to plan and implement complex projects to meet the needs of the department and its business partners, which include the state’s 33 Area Agencies on Aging.

This position is responsible for leading IT governance for the department, implementing California Health and Human Services Agency and statewide policies, developing and implementing department IT policy, and advising executive management and the director, according to the job posting.

“Under direction of the Deputy Director of Administration/Chief Information Officer and in conjunction with the Chief-ITOps (Chief of IT Operations), the CTO exercises initiative and proactive leadership in directing department IT functions, systems, assets, purchases, contracts and projects for CDA,” the job posting says. “The CTO is responsible for ensuring that all IT projects and activities are completed in accordance with state and federal mandates.”

The job functions, as outlined in the duty statement, are as follows:

  • 30% project management, application development and database management
  • 25% IT support oversight
  • 20% administrative and management responsibilities
  • 20% IT leadership and strategic planning
  • 5% marginal duties
The position has a monthly salary range of $8,016 to $10,742, and the application deadline is Dec. 4.
