State, County Recruiting for IT Managers

The California Department of Public Health and the Solano County Department of Information Technology are seeking experienced managers to oversee various IT functions.

State and local governments are seeking IT managers for positions with oversight responsibility.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is recruiting for a chief of the Data Center Operations Services Branch (DCOSB), an IT manager II role. The position works under the chief technology officer of the department’s Information Technology Services Division and serves as a member of the IT senior leadership team.

“The position provides direction on enterprise technology infrastructure services across all of all CDPH programs and systems,” the job posting says.

“The ITM II manages, plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and controls the activities of the DCOSB, which consist of the Customer Services, Enterprise Services, Infrastructure and Client Services, and, the System Architecture Services Sections, and the Emergency Preparedness Office Medical Health and Richmond Campus Coordination Centers, and Emergency Operation Center Information Management Systems. The position is responsible for managing, directing, and controlling the planning, development, and maintenance activities for the CDPH information technology infrastructure to ensure economical and efficient IT support for CDPH operations.”

Responsibilities include oversight of the department’s enterprise network, server farms, desktop and mobile computing, Internet, intranet, and extranet, business intelligence, enterprise service desk, production support, enterprise security and architecture management. The monthly salary range for the position is $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is June 8.

Solano County is recruiting for an IT manager to plan, organize and manage the work of a team engaged in the implementation and maintenance of complex computer systems for the Law and Justice Division. In addition to enterprise-wide IT responsibilities, the role oversees IT needs of the Sheriff, Probation, District Attorney, and Public/Alternate Defender Offices. The team also supports Public Safety systems (data and communication) hosted by the Sheriff’s Office and used by all Solano public safety agencies.

In addition, the job posting notes, the position will represent the county’s and the Sheriff’s Department’s technology interests on all countywide public safety data projects, and will provide the global Solano Technology Status at the Monthly Commander’s Meeting, will represent Solano at the Contra Costa County ARIES Regional data sharing meetings, and may attend the Statewide Data Sharing Task Force.
