State Entity Seeks Vendor Help on IT Training

The California Employment Development Department is seeking California Multiple Award Schedules listed vendors to provide IT training services.

A state department that became particularly crucial to millions of Californians during the COVID-19 pandemic is seeking assistance from IT vendors on training.

In a Request for Offer (RFO) released Nov. 2, the California Employment Development Department (EDD) wants to hear from companies that hold a current California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) contract for IT Training Services issued by the Department of General Services (DGS). Among the takeaways:

  • EDD’s Information Technology Branch (ITB) seeks a vendor that can deliver live online and in-person classroom IT training, the latter provided by the vendor at their facility. The contractor chosen shall provide training courses as needed for EDD. Courses should cover products by Adobe, CompTIA, Microsoft, Red Hat, Tableau and others, and areas including HTML, Linux, DevOps and SQL.
  • Contractor responsibilities include providing training courses to participants, and working directly with the EDD project representative and with designated staff on compliance with RFO terms. The company must also provide student workbooks and/or handouts to each participant — digital course materials are also permitted. The contractor must also provide participants with certificates of completion at the end of the course, as well as duplicate copies upon request — but not accept registration requests without authorization from EDD or a designee.
  • The contract will be for two years initially, and EDD will have the option to extend it for up to two one-year terms. The contract’s “anticipated funding limit” is $499,000. Offers, along with a copy of the respondent’s CMAS contract, are due by 3 p.m. Nov. 16.
