The city of San Jose is recruiting for a web administrator who’ll also serve as digital content lead for the City Manager’s Office.

“The Web Administrator/Digital Content Lead is a key member of the city’s Digital Communication Channels Team and serves as the webmaster for the City of San Jose website and intranet, updating information using the content management system, ensuring compliance and providing Web program oversight and training of the department web publishers and editors,” says the job posting. “The role oversees access permissions and publishing privileges within the Web Content Management System to ensure compliance with City web standards, and provides front-line support to content contributors, publishers, and editors in the city’s website. They set strategies for maximizing information findability through effective content, metadata, and site search configuration practices to ensure users can easily find information on city websites, and conducts audits to ensure alignment with writing, branding, and web content standards.”

The state Department of Social Services (DSS) is recruiting for an IT Manager II to manage operations of the Innovative Technology Solutions Branch, which includes the Enterprise Systems Support Bureau, the Web Innovations Bureau, the Development Resource Bureau, and Cloud and Business Intelligence Bureau. 

The manager will have “full management responsibility and accountability for subordinate supervisors, staff and workload associated with the operation of these bureaus. Duties include providing a high-level administrative oversight of the complex and critical projects and activities for the branch. Lead the development and operation of all CDSS assigned IT systems and applications. Provide technical leadership in the development, support and operation of all system applications. Define and approve standards, policies and procedures, functions and directs bureau chiefs, managers and staff in the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.”

The position’s requirements include the following:

  • Possess an extensive IT background including IT procurement, applications development and operations.
  • Possess senior management skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of policy governing the administration of IT programs in the Information Systems Division.
  • Knowledge of project management practices.
  • Experience in IT policy development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of state budgetary, personnel, contracting, and departmental administrative practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
