State Picks Contractor to Replace Lobbyist Website

The California Secretary of State's Office has chosen a contractor to replace Cal-ACCESS, the 19-year-old state website that hosts filings by political candidates, lobbyists and donors, among others.

The California Secretary of State's Office has chosen Perspecta, a Virginia-based tech services firm, to replace the department's online website for lobbyists.

The $12.6 million, 19-month contract, announced this week, calls for Perspecta to replace the website for the California Automated Lobby and Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Search System (Cal-Access), which since June 2000 has provided public access to financial information supplied by state candidates, donors, lobbyists and others.

Perspecta will partner with PCC Technology on the design and implementation of the website. PCC will handle the software.

"The new system will allow campaign and lobbying entities to meet filing requirements more efficiently, improve data quality, expand public access to data and allow for system modifications and improvements to respond to statutory and regulatory changes," Perspecta said in a news release.

Perspecta contracts with government in defense, intelligence, civilian, health-care and state and local markets.
