State Recruiting for IT Manager, Office Chief, Supervisor

The Department of Public Health is seeking a Project Management Office chief (IT Manager I), one of three PMO managers within the Planning and Project Management Branch, to direct several project managers in planning, initiation, management, and governance for many of the department’s IT projects in support of program business goals and objectives. “The ITM I is responsible for enterprise-wide IT project planning and oversight activities,” the job posting says, “including working closely with the PPMB chief on IT portfolio planning, contract and vendor management, risk management, Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) development, legislative bill analysis, budget change proposal (BCP) review and alignment with fiscal documents, formal IT project oversight, and control agency collaborating and reporting. The ITM I will work in the Business Technology Management domain.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,634 to $10,230, and the application deadline is May 18.

The California Highway Patrol is recruiting for an IT Manager I to oversee planning, organizing, and directing the activities of support units including Computer Aided Dispatch, Mobile Digital Computer, and the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System. Among the desirable qualifications for the position, according to the job posting, are:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal relationship management, time management, and research/information-gathering skills with the proven ability to work with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and work cooperatively with California Highway Patrol staff, third-party stakeholders, and contractors in the functional business domains.
  • Ability to exhibit strong leadership skills while managing mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, with peer managers and within cross-functional teams that have varying styles and/or cultures.

The Department of Housing and Community Development is recruiting for an IT Supervisor II to be responsible for the oversight of IT Web and SharePoint developers for both the Internet and Intranet within the IT Administration Section. “The incumbent will also directly supervise a unit of IT staff who perform a variety of complex IT, project management, and administrative tasks in support of the IT Branch,” the job posting says.

The Department of Developmental Services is seeking a lead analyst (IT Specialist II) to “act primarily as a business/information systems lead person, working with the cross-functional project team during the planning, design, testing, implementation, and maintenance phases of the Reimbursement System Project,” according to the job posting. “The incumbent also creates a training needs analysis strategy in order to develop appropriate training materials to address knowledge and skill set gaps in moving to the new environment. In addition, the incumbent participates in the most complex testing of applications to ensure functionality is validated.”

The position has a monthly salary range of $7,014 to $9,681, and the application deadline is May 14.
