State Recruiting for IT Supes, Architect, Specialist

The entities seeking IT professionals are the California State Lottery, the California Conservation Corps, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

State agencies are recruiting for several key IT roles, including supervisors, an architect and a specialist.

The California State Lottery is seeking an infrastructure support supervisor (IT supervisor II) “who enjoys technical consulting, teaching and mentoring others and can communicate technical issues and decisions using business terms.” According to the job posting, the responsibilities of the job include:

  • Administer, support and configure O365 Exchange/Exchange Online
  • Administer, support, and configure on-premises and Azure Active Directory and core services
  • Administer, support, and configure VMWare environments
  • Provide support to Azure Cloud technologies
  • Assess and support system settings and configurations
  • Oversee, build, test, implement and maintain group policies
  • Provide support to technical teams in implementation and maintenance of various systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation

The California Conservation Corps is recruiting for an IT infrastructure and operations supervisor (IT supervisor II) whose responsibilities will include the planning, organization and direction of all activities relating to servers, networks, telecommunication and help desk. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, operation and security of the department’s statewide IT systems.

In addition to managing the staff and workload of the Infrastructure and Operations Unit, the IT supervisor II is involved in the direct technical support activities of the unit. The supervisor “maintains and applies a working knowledge of desktop and infrastructure systems including security, networking, system administration, cloud computing and software as a service,” the job posting says. The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is recruiting for a strategic planning architect (IT specialist I) whose primary responsibility is to describe and document enterprise goals, objectives and strategies. In addition, the architect will “coordinate with other enterprise architects and subject matter experts in development of architectures,” the job posting says. “Describe and document how the enterprise business value will be realized and measure. Perform gap analysis and develop transition architectures, migration and sequencing plans, and alternative project concepts.” Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide domain area services for enterprise implementation and deployment projects to assure business value realization, verify compliance with architecture standards, and promote architecture and solution reuse.
  • Provide oversight to ensure enterprise implementation and deployment projects conform to enterprise architecture policies, principles, reference architectures, standards, and patterns.
  • Make recommendations for reuse or sharing of existing enterprise architecture components by enterprise implementation and deployment projects.
  • Make recommendations for development of new enterprise architecture components by enterprise projects for reuse or sharing by other existing or planned projects or systems.
The monthly salary for the role is $5,562 to $8,999, and the application deadline is Dec. 11.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is recruiting for an IT specialist I. The duty statement for the position notes: “Work at this level includes varied duties requiring knowledge of software development and agile development best practices and methodology. The incumbent will be required to have strong application development, writing and communication skills in order to document and resolve complex business problems in the form of mobile applications. The incumbent works and communicates directly with business customers and can demonstrates leadership by conflict resolution, process re-engineering, and identifying new opportunities while assisting management with the most sensitive risks and issues.”

The monthly salary range for the position, according to the job posting, is $5,562 to $8,999 per month, and the application deadline is Dec. 13.
