A handful of career-level positions — including Deputy Director — are open in state government, including a Deputy Director position in the Office of Systems Integration (OSI) project within California Health and Human Services’ Child Welfare Digital Services.

The Deputy Director position, which has a salary range that tops out just under $200,000 per year, is a Career Executive Assignment, and the application deadline is March 22.

“The Deputy Director's scope of work includes managing stakeholder involvement and representing OSI with the Legislature, governmental, public, and private agencies as well as testifying in legislative hearings,” the job description says. OSI “provides project management, oversight, procurement and support services for a multibillion-dollar portfolio of high criticality projects.”

OSI also is seeking an IT Manager I (System Delivery Manager), who “provides leadership and directs the activities of the technical team for the ongoing maintenance and operation of the Case Management, Information and Payrolling System (CMIPS).” This position has a salary range of $85,100-$114,000 per year and is in Sacramento County.

The State Compensation Insurance Fund has two openings for IT Specialist II (Virtualization Architect) positions, one each in Solano and Alameda counties, who will be “responsible for design and implement virtualization solutions based on best practices to support both data center and distributed server infrastructures and desktop environments.” The specialists will “manage implementation of virtualization projects, from both technical and communication aspects.” These positions have a salary range that peaks at $104,700 a year.

OSI and the Department of Social Services are each seeking an IT Specialist I; OSI wants its specialist to be qualified as a Project Management Lead/Scrum Master. Both positions are in Sacramento County and have a salary range that peaks at $95,500 annually. The application deadline for the OSI position is March 15; for the DSS position, the position will remain posted until it’s filled.

These positions are among those posted on the state’s CalCareers website.
