The California Department of Technology, which includes in its mission assisting other state departments with their own IT projects, including tools aimed at the COVID-19 pandemic, notched these five top purchases of IT goods in the month of June.
Their precise purpose isn’t specified; however, it seems clear the department aims to modernize existing hardware and software while maintaining and improving its security posture. According to state data, CDT’s five largest buys by dollar amount are:
• $3.6 million to Crayon Software Experts for Microsoft 365 E3 government community cloud shared servers, specifically, replacing SKU AAA-11984 with “the new SKU AAD-34700.”
• $700,000 with Kovarus for production support and a subscription for VMware IT service delivery pack for two “two processors for three years technical support.”
• $396,000 with Enterprise Networking Solutions, Inc. (ENS-Inc) for Palo Alto Networks PA-5250 “with redundant AC power supplies” – part of its PA-5200 Series firewalls.
• $288,000 with NWN Corp. for HP 830 G6 laptops and PCs, with 16 GB of RAM and apps including Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64.
• $287,000 with Taborda Solutions for Oracle “PeopleSoft Enterprises Human Resources – Employee Count Perpetual.”
